On a More Serious Note

I feel bad, because my family members always post on their blogs about serious matters that are very important to them. As for me, most of my posts thus far have been not necessarily nearly as serious or heartfelt. So this time, I decided to really open up and expose my soul. I have decided to share about something that's been troubling me now for quite some time. And that is....

Whatever happened to Gak?!!!

Remember Nickelodeon Gak? If you don't, it was basically colorful, slimy goo in a plastic container. It was popular in the mid 90's. I remember spending hours on end with my friends playing with Gak. (Of course, you can't really play with Gak, so much as you just squeeze it, stretch it and and let it drizzle downwards. I repeat, we did this for hours on end.)

You can't buy Gak anymore. You can still buy Floam, which is Gak with tiny styrofoam balls in it. Floam smells like Gak, which is cool (if you don't already know, Gak basically smells like fun- like pure, unadulterated fun) and you can still squeeze floam. But you can't really strech floam, and it doesn't drizzle nearly so much as it just sort of plops onto the ground.

Apparently you can make crafts with floam, which you couldn't do with Gak. In particular, the packaging advises you to try making a pencil holder, by covering a soup can with Floam. As fun as that sounds, and as attractive as that would look in my house, I don't really need a pencil holder. What I really need is something that I can stretch and let drizzle downwards.

What I need is Gak.

But Gak is gone.





According to this picture, which I stole off of Amazon.com, kids love Floam. I'd be willing to bet they'd love Gak even more, if only it was available for purchase.

To Clear Things up

Well, no doubt after that last post some of you are probably confused. You are thinking maybe that Hawaii is a beautiful, wonderful place to live. In order to clear things up, I have drawn a picture of the reality of the situation. Do not click on this image if you have a weak stomach.
